Yeah, I read a CT for less now than 20 years ago.
20 years.-
We should cap physician salaries at $150k. It would allow the large corporations running healthcare to do a better job for the patients

If this type of apparent unified approach does not get things changed, then nothing will.-
Good luck. Doctors are turning into second class citizens in many hospital systems with other employees getting raises and docs exempt. At least we can easily jump ship and go somewhere else. Physician job shortage gives us individual leverage. However a little bit of respect and appreciation by hospitals would go a long way in curtailing turnover

Yeah. I love radiology, but once I’ve made enough to retire (not too long now), if this trend of paycuts continues, I’ll look for a different career… maybe work for a law firm to go after radiology misses by the mid-levels that the hospital system will hire to cover for the mass exodus of physicians.

I’m curious what do you think is enough to retire? I’m in my 30s and real estate pays me $240k+ per year in post tax net income. But having the guilt of how long our training is I am thinking to take a location independent teleradiology job at about 60 hours per month, to keep up skills and maybe earn some additional capital.
With this income I don’t have kids but if I have I would be able to comfortably raise at least four. As I said real estate investing is a better inflation hedge than working a day job.
Is there such a thing as retiring too early.

There’s no “too early to retire.” How much is enough depends on lifestyle. I’ve figured out $5 mil in savings and investments is enough for me to not need to work anymore. I should get more into real estate… what kind do you invest in?
You shouldn’t have guilt. Do what makes you happy. The hospital admins don’t feel guility about treating people who spent their 20’s and 30’s becoming experts like disposable cogs in the machine.-
Just a reminder that if you go too long w/o working, it may be more difficult to get hospital privileges if you decide to re-enter the radiology workforce. Just keep that in mind.

Not in this environment. We just need someone with a pulse.

Uncle is all over it. Make the greedy, grifting admins say uncle instead.
I’m retiring sooner than later to flee the blue haired hambeasts of the west, and enjoy a pina colada while I get a massage from a real woman, who actually likes men.-

Deleted UserMarch 20, 2023 at 6:14 pmI don’t enjoy, per se, dictating studies by myself from home, although depending on the type of study, it can be a pretty easy way to earn some money. I’d probably retire from that tomorrow if I could, though I’d miss talking to a few of the ER docs who appreciate my help because they are funny. There’s an ophtho guy who calls me about orbital masses that is funny, too, would miss talking to people like that.
However I do enjoy working in the hospital on breast where techs do mammos and bring to me and I tell them to get some stepped obliques or cancel the ultrasound or do an ultrasound biopsy and explain stuff to the patient, or do a tough wire loc and talk to the surgeon. Feels more like being a real doctor. Long as I get to keep doing some of that – say twice a week – and can squat a barbell down to parallel, draw at the beep and get a tight group at the range, slap hands and bump fists on the mat before getting handed my butt by a former high school wrestler, and any number of additional things I enjoy through out the week, I don’t see a need to retire.

Any PP that has recently or is currently negotiating contract renewal should be able to get subsidies from hospitals/HC systems
