Go ahead and opt out. Problem is, enough people opt out and they’ll just make swallowing medicaid and medicare a condition of licensure. I think the threshold will be somewhere in the 25% range. Once this many docs go “John Galt”… look out.

It doesn’t matter how enthusiastic Blum was Loudog, making the information public was against the law until Rupert’s paper sued to make the information public. WSJ won & now the information is public whether Blum supported it or not.

It is in the interest of the Obama administration to release this. Let us not forget…they want decrease doc reimbursements. If reimbursement rates are reversed, it will increase the cost of the ACA dramatically (close to $200b over 10 years).
You note the DOJ could have fought this release with an injunction…but didn’t even bother.-
And Tom Coburn and other republicans rail against the “doc fix.”
You don’t need conspiracies. At one time you argued the problem with Obamacare was that it did not address cutting the nation’s healthcare expense and the lack of public information of cost.-

Transparency for thee not for me or how to argue simultaneously that medicine costs too much but attempts to control costs are impermissable

looks like resourceful opthalmologist have devised another way to make their coin before US slams the door on their faces again.
The top earner in the list is Melgen. Out of the 20mil he received, 12mil went right back out the door for the Lucentis doses. He billed for 37k ‘units’ of the drug, each unit is 0.1mg. Typical doses are 0.5mg every 30 days which would make it about 7400 injections or a stable of 600odd AMD patients in his practice per year. The reason his numbers are so out of proportion is because he uses the most expensive drug on the market and probably inject anyone who walks through his door. Now he did have a 9mil claw-back from medicare last year. But as long as he pays the hoochies for his buddy the democratic senator…..
Melgen pardoned by Trump.-

How much did Joe bill Xi for access?
A 12 year old girl for Hunter and a line of blow, you say?
That’s it? He’s more of a sellout than I thought -

Visionary enterpreneur tripped up by the system.
Inventor of the ‘bottomless avastin bottle’ and guardian of the ‘miracle of IU multiplication’.
Of course a successful businessman like trump is going to right that injustice.

That doesn’t explain it. There was a mountain of evidence against him and he was convicted on multiple counts. What he did is still illegal today.

If it doesn’t make sense politically (Melgen was tied in with Dem politics), then the next most likely answer is that it will lead to $$ in Trump’s pockets somehow.-

yes that sounds right
so something Trump did seems fishy. Here’s my answer: it is fishy. don’t waste time looking for less unpleasant explanations. -

Supposedly Melgen was bankrupted and medical license was revoked. Melgen is not the payor.

Whoosh….
Melgen has dirt on Menendez whom he put in compromising positions in the DR. Now Melgen owes Don Trumpi a ‘favor’.

In April 2018, Menendez was “severely admonished” by the [link=https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Senate_Select_Committee_on_Ethics]United States Senate Select Committee on Ethics[/link] in a letter.
In that letter, the Committee stated the following:
[blockquote] The Committee has found that over a six-year period you knowingly and repeatedly accepted gifts of significant value from Dr. Melgen without obtaining required Committee approval, and that you failed to publicly disclose certain gifts as required by Senate Rule and federal law. Additionally, while accepting these gifts, you used your position as a Member of the Senate to advance Dr. Melgens personal and business interests. The Committee has determined that this conduct violated Senate Rules, federal law, and applicable standards of conduct. Accordingly, the Committee issues you this Public Letter of Admonition, and also directs you to repay the fair market value of all impermissible gifts not already repaid
[/blockquote]
You don’t think Melgen would of rolled over on Menendez during the trial?
