  • Looking for reimbursement numbers for patients with private insurance

Posted by Unknown Member on May 23, 2023 at 7:34 pm

Im looking to connect with anyone that may have insight to reimbursements for MRI for patients with private insurance in an outpatient imaging center setting. Myself and a few colleagues are considering opening a free standing MRI imaging center but have had no luck finding information about reimbursements for privately insured patients. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated!

Might as well open up a frozen yogurt shop, that way the OEMs won’t get you on the hook for millions in personal guarantees and you’ll probably make better money.

The attendings at my place said x-rays paid about 10 bucks. CT scan’s pay about 50 and MRIs pay 100 per read in PP. But then again I have my own issues with the fellowship/residency I’m graduating from

I would say cut those figures by 50%, and that’s just pro fees. Tech fee’s pay the bills and they have been in the toilet for some time.

MR is the money maker, high volume no contrast MRs probably reimburse $150ish TC these days. If you schedule patients every 30 mins that’s 300/hr in a center that costs over 400/hr to operate, simply doesn’t make sense.
