Ruben Gallego will Announce Senate Campaign in Arizona
Rep. Ruben Gallego, a former Marine combat veteran who was critical of Senator Kyrsten Sinemas leadership and fidelity to the Democratic Party long before she announced she was leaving it to become an independent, will announce his 2024 Senate campaign to challenge her on Monday, Newsweek has learned first, [link=https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/redirect-to/?redirect=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.newsweek.com%2Fruben-gallego-set-launch-senate-campaign-against-kyrsten-sinema-1775135]Newsweek[/link] reports.

I think he’d be a solid candidate and hopefully kicks her out the door.  The only problem is hopefully they don’t split the vote.

[link=https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/3835487-lake-attacks-gallego-as-aoc-of-arizona-after-senate-announcement/]Kari Lake attacks Gallego as the AOC of Arizona

[/link]

Have you seen the latest one theyre rolling out? The guys name is Ruben Gallego. He is the we call him the AOC of Arizona. And that may actually be an insult to AOC, Lake said in a jab at prominent progressive Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.).

Lake said Gallego could not string three or four or five words together and make a coherent sentence, comparing him to Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman (D) in an apparent insult of the senators [link=https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/3705116-fetterman-stroke-sparks-debate-over-whats-seen-as-a-disability/]auditory processing issues[/link] as a result of a stroke.

Gallego’s response: We call Kari Lake the Kari Lake of Arizona and yes that is an insult.”

She’s as mentally broken as Donald.  The election denial isn’t a good strategy.  You lost.  And who does the childish behavior play to?  I’m sure there’s a part of the electorate that buys into the insult comedy.  I’d like to think people are more sophisticated.

Theres definitely a part of the electorate that buys in. Her only hope is that it remains enough. Shed cant the playbook because its the only way she and the rest of the Trumpettes know how to win. People being more sophisticated? Not many.

This is good for those of in the middle.

Arizona Republicans Fear They May Blow It Again
[link=https://www.politico.com/news/2023/02/01/arizona-republican-senate-candidates-00080519]Politico[/link]: The possibility of Kari Lake and Blake Masters entering the political waters once more is complicating the newfound optimism GOP officials felt about capitalizing on Sinemas recent party switch to independent.

Another um…interesting wardrobe choice at the SOTU

Sinema was hell-bent on wearing that damn bridesmaid’s dress a second time.
Sinema Vérité
A look into the very real headaches that Kyrsten Sinema is about to cause for Democrats and Republicans (and herself!) in Washington and Arizona.

[link=https://puck.news/sinema-verite/]Tara Pameri[/link]: Theres a consensual delusion playing out within part of the left these days that Kyrsten Sinemathe subject of endless Washingtonian curiosity on account of her tacky yellow-winged frocks, wigs, go-go boots, oenophile bisexual ironman lifestyle, date nights with Kevin McCarthy, and, yes, Democrat-to-independent conversionmight somehow decide not to run for re-election in 2024.

Of course, that would make things easier for the Democratseasier for Rep. Ruben Gallego, her pesky Democratic challenger, who has been aiming his fire at Sinema for years; for majority leader Chuck Schumer, who presumably prefers to stay neutral rather than antagonize Sinema, who votes with his caucus the vast majority of the time; and for caucus more generally, which is sick of her complicating their priorities as a mini-Manchin. Perhaps, the wistful fantasy goes, Sinema will just decide shed rather ride things out writing bestsellers in the desert and sitting on the board of companies like Pfizer.

Alas, this is all nonsense: Sinema, a fundraising machine and darling of Wall Street and Big Pharma, alike, will run for Senate in Arizona as an independent, even if that means shes a spoiler for Democrats.

And the corporates will fund her to no end – she’s got their interests and their money as her primary interest.

Man, the Dems are tough graders. I remember when 93% was an “A”.

She sure has created a “consensual delusion playing out within part of the left”.

Teagan Goddard:
[link=https://politicalwire.com/2023/02/17/sinemas-re-election-prospects-look-pretty-bad/]Sinemas Re-Election Prospects Look Pretty Bad[/link]
If you dig into the [link=https://politicalwire.com/2023/02/16/ruben-gallego-takes-early-lead-in-arizona-match-ups/]new Arizona poll[/link] of the 2024 Senate race, its hard not to conclude that Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (I-AZ) is in deep trouble if she decides to seek re-election. Despite being the incumbent, Sinema doesnt get more than a third of the vote in any of the three-way match ups tested.

Sinema does better among Republicans than with Democrats, but Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) who has already announced his bid does better with independents. Worse for Sinema, the Democratic party is consolidated around Gallego. Her best hope is if Republicans put up a controversial challenger, like failed the 2022 candidates Blake Masters or Kari Lake.

Its true that theres a lot of time before the election. But its very hard to see how she puts together a winning coalition.

I’m in favor of Gallego replacing Sinema. I’m disappointed that as a result we have one less centrist in Congress.

Gallego Peels Off Sinemas Silicon Valley Donors
[link=https://puck.news/manchins-senioritis-gallegos-silicon-valley-swipe/?_cio_id=f6c60601e35b94c602&utm_campaign=The+Best+%26+The+Brightest+-+SUBSCRIBERS+%282%2F23%2F23%29&utm_content=The+Best+%26+The+Brightest+-+SUBSCRIBERS+%282%2F23%2F23%29&utm_medium=email_action&utm_source=customer.io]Tara Palmeri[/link]: Chuck Schumer has likely been up all night with desert-hued nightmares of the 2024 Arizona Senate racein particular, how the current murder-suicide pact between Ruben Gallego and Kyrsten Sinema could deliver the seat to the election-results denying Kari Lake, essentially a more telegenic Marjorie Taylor Greene.

As that showdown looms in the distant-but-not-too-distant future, Gallego has peeled off much of Sinemas Silicon Valley donor base, the same crew of influential female philanthropists who paved the way for her 2018 election in the name of girl power and turning purple Arizona blue. Critically, Gallego has won over rising mega-donor Karla Jurvetson, who famously gave Elizabeth Warrens super PAC a $15 million check when her 2020 campaign was low on cash.

Winning over Jurvetson was a coup for Gallegonot just because of her deep pockets, but also on account of her status among the Silicon Valley set as an alpha fundraiser who wealthy women in the Bay Area looked to for guidance.

Old dudes are eating Jell-O, everyone is talking about how great they are. I dont really need to be there for that. Thats an hour and a half twice a week that I can get back.

Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (I-AZ), quoted by Politico, on no longer caucusing with Senate Democrats.

yeah . But its comments like these that makes me think she might not run for re-elect

As Tulsi Gabbard learned, Democratic voters tend to like Democrats. Characterizing her colleagues as old buffoons is not going to win her more support.

pissing off dems might be a great way to get invited onto Fox prime time and to get AM conservatives to say why wont democrats nominate someone like her?!”

but its not a good election strategy

Agree. I think this is the 1st step. Maybe she actually joins GOP as raised finger to Dems, maybe she does not run. Maybe something else.

I think what will help her decide is where the money comes from.

She’s loved by the Republicans of Arizona when she’s a D/I seat being a thorn. But she ain’t winning a GOP primary in the craziest GOP party state in the nation.

Kyrsten Sinema Is Deeply Unpopular
A new [link=https://jezebel.com/kyrsten-sinema-has-a-net-favorability-of-negative-23-p-1850367190]Public Policy Polling survey[/link] in Arizona finds that Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (I) stands to lose re-election badly in virtually any potential matchup this November and is deeply unpopular among voters.

The survey results show that just 27% of voters in the state view Sinema favorably and want her to run again, compared to 50% of Arizonans who view her unfavorably and 54% who say she shouldnt run again.

In any likely three-way matchup among Sinema, Ruben Gallego (D) and whatever Republican candidate wins their primary, Sinema appears to have virtually no chance of winning.

So we replace Sinema with Gallego. She’s gone. He moves houses.

I guess the Dems love it because she betrayed them.
