  • Investigation into Swedish MRI accident moves forward

I think it should be the responsibility of the owner or the manufacturer to place a metal detector at the entrance door of the MRI machine.  Anyone with metal would be “beeped” and not allowed to go through.

It IS the responsibility of the owner operator to take reasonable means to prevent this sort of accident.  a beeping metal detector wil not stop everyone who wants to enter with metal; a sign will not stop everyone either.

Seems like it would stop the operator, and the operator would stop the patient.

This article is nearly a year old, while links splash as though it just happened. Where is the follow up link? Was there even a follow up?

The manufacturer of matchbooks is not required to provide a fire extinguisher. The end user (facility) is made well aware of the hazards and is recommended, by signed agreement, to provide safety measures at the equipment facility.
