  • International Teleradiology?

Posted by drsakhalid_953 on December 2, 2020 at 7:11 pm

Hi Everyone – Long time member, first time poster.

What are the rules for doing teleradiology abroad?
My current understanding is that you can provide a preliminary report from anywhere in the world, but the final report needs to be signed in the US. True?

Do the US territories (Virgin Islands, PR) count as abroad?

Would tele companies or PP allow you to read from anywhere if you’re just doing prelims?

    Just fantasizing…

I’d like to work internationally. Dont know of any companies that let you do it. U.s. territories are not considered international but unlikely you’d want to move to some place like guam..

Maybe not Guam, but the US Virgin Islands could be nice part time. Have a little place on St. John or Thomas with a work station plus a continental US home base.

This is what I think about in my lockdown life 🙂

Medicare won’t accept a final report from abroad, but private insurance might.

I dream about putting a workstation in the extra stateroom of my 50ft catamaran.  Works some days hubbed out of Fajardo, PR then cruise the Virgins on days/weeks off 🙂

Bandwidth could be a problem in some of those places…

For sure … and *highly* unreliable service in the Caribbean.

My guess is that Hawaii might be the best bet?

Doesnt Vrad advertise being able to work abroad?  How else do you sell someone on paying them $4-5 to read a plain film or $20 for a ct scan?

This came up before. I know someone with vrad who works from asia. No idea how it works. I guess she does prelims only.
