Gun Maker Agrees to Settlement with Sandy Hook Families
The families of some of the adults and children killed in the 2012 mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School reached a settlement Tuesday with Remington, the manufacturer of the AR-15 rifle used in the massacre, [link=https://www.cnbc.com/2022/02/15/remington-agrees-to-settle-with-sandy-hook-mass-shooting-families.html]CNBC[/link] reports.

[link=https://www.nytimes.com/2022/02/15/nyregion/sandy-hook-families-settlement.html]New York Times[/link]: Remington, which made the weapon, had proposed settling with the families for $33 million as a trial date loomed. Court documents filed on Tuesday morning did not specify the amount of the settlement, but a lawyer for the families said in a statement that the settlement was for $73 million.

I still dont generally understand why Remington is on the hook to the sandy hook families.

The accounts I read would put this kid as nuts and his mom bought him guns. She didnt live to face the music but to me that was the biggest WTF about this situation.

Connecticut Supreme Court justices heard the case in November 2017, where they peppered Remington representatives with questions about advertisements that touted the AR-15 semiautomatic rifle as being able to single-handedly overcome forces of opposition. Examples of advertising for the high-capacity firearm included slogans like Consider your man card reissued.

Plaintiff attorneys contended it was dangerous marketing of an assault rifle sure to appeal to troubled young men. On December 14, 2012, Adam Lanza, 20, killed his mother in their Newton home, before shooting his way into the elementary school, where he went on a killing spree with a Bushmaster AR-15 before taking his own life.

The case has been vigorously contested by Remington and gun-rights organizations, including the National Rifle Association. As our Massachusetts [link=https://www.jeffreysglassman.com/]product liability[/link] lawyers have written previously, being forced into litigation typically forces these companies and organizations to release a treasure trove of documents that are often more damning than reaching a large settlement.
Firearms and Defective Product Cases
A product can be defective in three main ways:

Are either of those three things correct.

As a gun owner you get instructions and safety information. It wasnt defective and Im not sure what the alternative design to a gun would be.

I find Ryan Busse pretty interesting. He was an exec at Kimber and ended up walking away because he didnt like how things were turning. The marketing and what not. I kind of agree with his view.

“It would be a real game changer if the NRA was not involved in lobbying and election manipulation.”

I stand by what I said about six months ago.
