I saw this add on the ACR website from an AI starup. I called them up to see what’s all about. They make take an assessment test that’s got about 200 films. I was wondering how many ppl took it and actually passed. It smells like a scam?.

What do they pay the applicant to take this 200 study assessment test?

Nothing…Thats why it suspicious to me. I wonder if they dont use the test as usable data.

Ha, but they have venture capital funding from Google, etc. Says so in the ACR ad. So you’re training your replacement, I see

The rates are extremely low, I’m talking CENTS to read each image.  For 200 x-ray images with full read for each individual image, they would pay about $30.  Don’t waste your time.

9 cents per label, to be exact

This is “[link=https://www.mturk.com/]Mechanical Turk[/link]” for radiology, which is an attempt to get crowd sourced, cheap labor. I hope no one signs up. Your expertise is worth way more than $0.09 per label. This (crowd-sourced labeling) will be the pathway to creating the “curated” datasets that are needed to train AI, and I do think it will happen (can’t stop progress), but please let’s not sell to the lowest bidder! These companies should expect to have to pay A LOT to train their precious AI models to “be as good as a radiologist.”

(takes job, labels everything “a butt”)

You can always F with them and call cancer on every image

Each label has a differential of cancer infection congenital metabolic traumatic

Label is of normal calcaneal spur for an example.

                      Hmmmm.

I could get my 8 year old to do this for me and just say put an arrow where ever you want son and copy and paste what I said in that box. I want 100 labels on each image.

This could be a creative punishment.

Maybe the 8 yr old would do it for 30$

IBM is paying residents about 3500 dollars to read 300 x rays.

I cant imagine anyone doing it for them at those rates.  Very poorly planned if you asked me and thats a lot of money poured in by venture capitalists which will likely just go down the drain.

It’s the IBM medical sieve project. I forget the lead guys name but his contact info is on the site.

They are currently only offering the plain films to ‘ junior residents’ – I did some work for the last year but they don’t want ‘advanced’ residents at this time.

It’s a painful onboarding process but easy money.

I’m more advanced now so that wouldn’t work I guess.  Too bad

They’re advertising again. Going to investigate and see if anything has changed from before. Is there anybody here who has more recent info or, better yet, works for them?

I think they have mostly abandoned the AI training schtick and are full fledged imaging centers now
