In the meantime MRI’s at independent diagnostic centers, run by physicians charge $250-$400.

Not saying a place like the VA is much better, but in my experience, those independent diagnostic outpatient only centers you see in strip malls only do routine cases and send anything complicated to a major center. Outside of routine MSK issues, I wouldn’t want my imaging done there. Anecdotally, I’ve seen major misses and egregious misinterpretations by the one near us.

Yeah, never seen the hospital groups miss much.

I’m not getting in an argument. I’m just telling you my experience. The local indepedent centers near me are terrible, both quality of images and quality of reports. No one is perfect, but I wouldn’t send my family members to the strip mall scanners.
