I moved the link to the top since in case there are others besides the OP who believe this is a topic worth discussing.

Oh my. You do have thin skin. Honestly its something I think about all of the time. I mostly believe the accuser in these situations and think there is no way I could be falsely accused if I dont do anything wrong. However, when I read things like this I do wonder and then I wonder about others who have been dragged through the mud.

Are you really done with me because my gentle poke struck a nerve?

And I understand that you would be done with me. Thats the part dergon deleted if anyone is wondering. It should give a reason for introspection that my sarcasm triggers that strong reaction.

The court of public opinion is brutal. It is rare that those wrongly accused are vindicated in this way even if not criminally convicted. They can be cancelled from every side. Im glad you have some recognition.

It is good that accused doctors sometimes can be not only found not guilty but also collect damages.

Would not it be nice that each time a malpractice lawsuit results in not guilty verdict, plaintiff’s lawyer would be on the hook for damages to reputation, career, pain and suffering?

Yes it is good. Unfortunately rare. I know many that were not this fortunate.

Its tricky. Nobody wants to let someone off that deserves punishment but we should worry about the falsely accused for examples like dergon has shared.

Oh. It looks like dergon is not only done with me but the thread he started. I was going to say its in the OP but he cancelled it.

Too bad. Its actually a good subject to do some introspection on. But if one doesnt like the direction the game one started is going one can reserve the right to pick up the ball and go home.

I had no intention of proving anything. I was glad dergon posted the story because it is easy to forget how one can be falsely accused even if we believe we are acting in good faith and not breaking the law or rules. Segments of our society can cause irreparable harm to others with false accusations just as easily as the powerful can abuse their power and cause irreparable harm.

It is complicated and worth a discussion.
