  • Diagnostic EDtelerads work after IR training

Posted by christopher.walker_148 on April 9, 2023 at 4:07 pm

For residents trained in integrated IR/DR programs, if they wanted to give up the IR portion of their training, are they able to do pure 1099 telerads work from home / ED diagnostic radiology work? If this can be done, how can a trainee keep up their general DR skills during the 2 year IR portion of their training?

Can this be done with just the DR training alone, or would it be recommended to do a DR fellowship like neuro in addition to the IR training?

With solid training in DR, no additional training should be needed. Radiology is a lot more horses than zebras. Once you have read thousands of studies, you dont forget easily. Its like riding a bike again. IR also has subspecialty training in vascular DR in most institutions also.
