CTDI and DLP reporting
Posted by pankajkaira1982_700 on March 29, 2023 at 8:41 amDo you have to include these in your reports? Why? Its such a waste of time as no one looks at them. Another 5-10 seconds wasted per CT report x 2000 per year. It adds up.
Maybe someone knows why…poymd25 replied 1 year, 7 months ago 6 Members · 9 Replies -

Its amazing how many radiologists have to suffer with menial tasks like this. Zero courage to stand up to get IT support I think is the problem.

A few states require this at the state radiation protection level. And medical administrators, as they are for the most part dumber than a box of rox, will find the most stringent requirement in the country and make you adhere to it whether needed or not.
Dose measures (including use of the correct unit of measurement) in fluoroscopy and IR are a MIPS measure(#145). Your facility may still require fluoroscopy time and number of ‘films’ and ‘series’ to be documented, but the actual measure now requires the dose.
Having it documented at the hospital level (e.g. in RIS) is not enough when it comes to MIPS. The wording is clear that it has to be in the report.
Best solution is to have the techs document it in the RIS and then either to pull the data across into your dictation solution (e.g. using a merge field in Powerscribe) or to have your transcriptionist copy it over from RIS. I know, we dont have control over those things, but usually ‘its a regulatory requirement’ gets people to move.-

Its possible that your group sucks

That may be true.
It’s probably the largest group in the US.
It may take an act of Congress to pass changes. Get my point?-
Do you have to report both, or is one or the other sufficient?

I have to report both even though I tried to do just 1. Slapped on the wrist afterwards.

Because it forces YOU to look at them. Ive found it very useful for patients over my career because of this.
