The Koch brothers political operation intends to spend $889 million in the run-up to the 2016 elections,[link=http://www.politico.com/story/2015/01/koch-2016-spending-goal-114604.html#ixzz3PxqaK48M]Politico[/link] reports.
The spending goal, shared with donors at a Monday morning session at the Rancho Mirage Ritz Carlton, reflects the sweeping ambition of a private conservative political network that in many ways has eclipsed the power of the official Republican Party. The $889 million spending goal dwarfs the $404 million the Republican National Committee spent during the 2012 election and the $188 million it dropped during last years midterm campaign.kayla.meyer_144 replied 4 years ago 6 Members · 16 Replies -

I was listening to some talk radio about this on the drive in. Plutocracy at work. Who needs campaign finance reform?

Look at the American revolution, the anti-slavery movement, the womens suffrage movement, the civil rights movement. All of these struck a moral chord with the American people. They all sought to overcome an injustice. And we, too, are seeking to right injustices that are holding our country back.

Last I recall the Libertarians thought the Civil Rights laws and Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation was all government over-reach. They struck a chord all right with the South.

Interesting that the Koch’s went to liberal California to have their conference. No nice hotels in Wichita?

Kansas is going bankrupt due to Brownbackonomics. Kochs don’t want to remind anyone how well conservative economic “solutions” work. Outlook not looking up either.

I wish good luck to all of the Republican candidates that traveled to California to beg for money etc. from the Koch Brothers. …Puppets?” ~Donald Trump

Any big names behind Trump? I did a google search and the top results are about Trump funding his own campaign and an article about a few small donations.
I’m starting to get the phone calls more and more at home now. Like Ben Carson would like to send me his book for a $100 or more donation. No thanks Ben.-

For now he is self funding… but he is indeed building a real campaign apparatus.
He has a massive advantage in that he can, for the cost $0.00, lead the news cycle on any given day he chooses.
At some point though the nuts and bolts of paying staffers will have to be done and Trump has openly stated he will be self-funding his campaign.-
surprising because the last few elections have taken about a billion in campaign money to win. That’s a lot of money to pull out of the piggy bank.

Charles Koch Says His Partisanship Was a Mistake
In a rare interview, the libertarian billionaire concedes that his GOP partisanship and activism badly deepened Americas divisions. As he puts it in his new book, Boy, did we screw up! What a mess!

Oops, I burned down the house.
But we did get everything we were after while burning it down!
